About the game

What you do in a play session

In Sultaniya, you're an ambitious architect trying to impress the sultan with the most dazzling palace in the city. The game blends pattern building, set collection, and tile placement into a spatial challenge full of strategy. Each player starts with a personal board and a small triangle of pre-built tiles — your job is to expand this foundation by carefully selecting tiles that fit your design and score the most points. Tiles come in four colors (representing different palace levels) and have attributes like gates, columns, and windows that need to match. You also earn sapphires for building, which can be spent to summon genies with special abilities, like building twice in one turn or repositioning a placed tile. The game ends when someone builds their fifth sky-level tile, and the player with the most valuable palace wins. With hidden objectives and multiple scoring paths, every game is a fresh puzzle!

Quick answers before you buy

5 questions
How many players can play?
2 to 4 players. Works well at all counts, though with 4 it can get a bit more chaotic in tile selection.
How long does a game take?
About 45 minutes on average, but may vary depending on player count and familiarity with the rules.
Is it hard to learn?
No — the rules are simple, but the strategy can be challenging. Great for medium-depth game lovers.
Does it need a lot of table space?
Each player needs space for their personal board (about 12x12 inches) plus central area for available tiles.
Is it good for family game nights?
Yes! The theme appeals to casual players, and the mechanics are accessible while still offering interesting decisions.
