About the game
What you do in a play session
SundayQuest Adventures: Riches of Karak Azgul arrives as the 12th stop in the HeroQuest saga, delivering a pack brimming with new quests, Fimir magic spells, and glittering treasures. All twelve quests were designed to extend the story that began in Wizards of Morcar, so if your group has already finished Kellar's Keep, Return of the Witch Lord, Against the Ogre Horde and the Wizards of Morcar expansion, get ready to dive even deeper into the caverns of Karak Azgul. The content is fully compatible with both the European and North‑American editions of HeroQuest from the 80s‑90s, as well as the 2021 re‑release, leaving no excuse not to play.
The expansion preserves the cooperative core of the base game: players continue to assume heroic roles, pick abilities, and face challenges together, now with a broader array of Fimir spells that add extra spice to combat. The treasures are more than gold tokens; some grant permanent or temporary effects that can shift the party's strategy. The quest booklet features detailed artwork and short narratives that set the mood for each adventure, easing immersion even for those not steeped in traditional RPGs.
In playtime terms, a quest can last from 60 to 240 minutes, depending on player count (2‑5) and the chosen mission’s complexity. No BGG weight is listed, but difficulty ramps gradually, allowing novice groups to progress without skipping steps. If you love exploration but dislike overly complex rules, Riches of Karak Azgul delivers exactly that: exploration, cooperation, and a dash of role‑playing that makes every session feel fresh.
