About the game
What you do in a play session
Super Munchkin drops you and your crew into a bustling city teeming with villains, aliens, and absurd gadgets. Each player starts as a level‑1 hero – Mutant, Exotic, Mystic or Techno – and races to be the first to hit level 10. The journey is a blend of Encounter cards (monsters, traps, bosses) and Treasure cards (weapons, powers, goofy items). On your turn you ‘kick down the door’ by drawing an Encounter; most of the time that means battling a monster. You’ll use your level, gear and abilities to defeat it, or flee if things look grim. Other players can lend a hand or sabotage you by adding extra monsters or offering bonuses. Every win yields treasure, which bumps your level and adds new powerful cards. The real fun comes from the backstabbing: you can steal gear, make temporary deals, or even flip a monster card against a friend. Dice rolling resolves fights and random effects, while card trading keeps a constant bartering vibe. The humor is everywhere – card names like “Aura Helmet” or “Telezapinator” are pure jokes, and John Kovalic’s illustrations reinforce the sarcastic comic‑book feel. Though the core rules are simple, the variety of variable player powers and the ability to mix this stand‑alone game with other Munchkin titles provide huge replay value. Perfect for 3‑6 players, a game runs about 90 minutes, the learning curve is shallow, but the laughs and twists are guaranteed.
