About the game
What you do in a play session
Ryld, the chaotic bard and the righteous swordmaster, arrives on your battlefield as a Hero Pack, ready to turn every Sword & Sorcery session into a sonic and deadly adventure. This pack isn’t a standalone game – it needs the heart of the universe, Sword & Sorcery: Immortal Souls – but it gives you everything you need to bring a new hero to the table: two miniatures (normal and Ghost Soul), a Soul Gem, character cards, action cards, and two legendary treasures, Fool’s Gold and Phoenix Talon.
Ryld’s edge is his duality. As a Chaotic Bard, he sings, casts charm spells and uses his voice to inspire the squad, while as a Lawful Blademaster he masters combat, teaches tactics and protects teammates with precise cuts. This flexibility of style makes each game unique, forcing players to choose between aggression, support or disciplined strategy. Action points limit what each player can do each turn, while area movement eases the movement of whole groups on a modular board that can be rearranged each game.
The cooperative experience is reinforced by action cards that require coordination between heroes, and dice rolling brings the thrill of uncertainty to every attack. Variable Player Powers let each character choose skills that fit their role, making customization more than just aesthetics. Ryld’s miniature, with details that capture both his ethereal aura and sharp blade, adds a visual touch that makes the game stand out on battle tables.
For those who already master Sword & Sorcery and want something new, Ryld offers a fresh, dynamic experience. If you don’t have the base game yet, remember the Hero Pack won’t work alone and a translation may be needed, as the expansion has moderate language dependency. In short, Ryld is the perfect choice for those looking to expand the campaign with a hero who sings, fights, and inspires without losing the complexity and fun the series offers.
