Game Objective
The game Tannhäuser: Daedalus expands the Tannhäuser universe, introducing new maps, circle types, and tokens, as well as scenarios and campaigns that deepen the narrative. The overall objective varies according to the chosen scenario or campaign. For example, in Scenario A: The Last Three Letters, the first team to complete three objectives and have at least one character (with the level guide token) off the board through any entry point wins. In campaigns, players choose factions and troops at the beginning and seek to fulfill the specific campaign conditions of each scenario to progress and eventually win the campaign.
Preparation (Setup)
Game preparation varies according to the chosen scenario or campaign. Below, we detail the preparation for some specific scenarios and the configuration of new elements:
- Map Selection: The manual presents the maps Minos' Labyrinth and Gévaudan Outpost.
- Secret Door Token Setup (Optional):
- If both players agree to use them, secret door tokens are placed after the board is chosen.
- Two or four secret door tokens can be used, as agreed between players.
- Each player places an equal number of secret door tokens. A die roll determines which player starts first.
- Players take turns placing tokens until the agreed quantity is reached.
- Secret door tokens must be placed on action circles and at least six circles away from other secret door tokens already placed.
- Crates cannot be placed on an action circle with a secret door.
- Platform Token Setup:
- At the start of the game, platforms are considered deactivated. Platform tokens are not placed on the board.
- Specific Scenario Setup:
- Scenario A: The Last Three Letters:
- Use the Minos' Labyrinth map.
- The Reich plays against any faction.
- Each player receives 3 command points per turn.
- Entry points are chosen using the “Rush and go” variant (consult the original manual for details).
- Objective tokens are placed as in “Objective” game mode (consult the original manual for details).
- Randomly place a crate token on each action circle.
- Place the level guide token on the circle in the center of the map.
- Scenario B: I am a Revenant:
- Use the Minos' Labyrinth map.
- The Reich plays against any faction.
- Each player receives 2 command points per turn.
- Entry points are chosen using the “Rush and go” variant (consult the original manual for details).
- Starting with the player who won the setup roll, each player places a Revenant token on one of the indicated circles, alternating between players until 10 have been placed.
- Place the scroll token on the circle in the center of the map.
- Scenario E: Rebel Cry:
- Use the Gévaudan Outpost map.
- The Union plays against any faction.
- Each player receives 3 command points per turn.
- Entry points are chosen as in “Extermination” game mode (consult the original manual for details).
- Objective tokens are placed as in “Objective” game mode (consult the original manual for details).
- Randomly place a crate token on each action circle.
- Place the manuscript token on the primary objective circle as displayed on the map.

Game Flow
The game flow is turn-based, with special rules and phases that may vary according to the scenario. Campaigns consist of playing multiple scenarios in a specific order.
- Campaigns:
- A campaign consists of playing multiple scenarios in a specific order.
- There are two campaigns in Daedalus: "The Son of Minos" (starts with Scenario A on page 8) and "The Beast" (starts with Scenario E on page 15).
- At the start of each new campaign scenario, each character's health (vitality) is brought back (even if he or she had been previously killed).
- Any equipment spent during a scenario is not refreshed at the start of the next scenario. Characters cannot choose a new pack at the start of a new scenario.
- Global Phases and Events (Scenario Examples):
- Scenario B: I am a Revenant:
- At the end of each turn, both players must move each of their Revenant tokens three circles in any direction.
- Scenario F: Self-Destructive Standard:
- In each step of the “token update,” remove one fire token from this pile.
- Scenario G: We Have to Know:
- At the end of each turn, both players must move each of their peasant tokens three circles in any direction.
- Scenario H: River Running Red:
- After a player has activated their last character in the turn, they must immediately move the beast three circles in any direction. This means the beast will be moved twice per turn, once by each player.
- Individual Scenario: Bleeding is a Luxury:
- At the end of each turn, each soldier token moves three circles, ignoring movement modifiers, along the routes displayed in the direction indicated by the arrow.
- At the start of each turn, each eliminated soldier token is placed on the circle it started the game. If this circle is occupied, the soldier token is placed on the nearest empty circle, following the route indicated on the map.
- Scenario B: I am a Revenant:
Actions and How to Play
Characters can perform various actions and interact with new board elements and tokens. Below are the actions and specific rules introduced by the expansion:
- Movement:
- Forbidden circle: No character can end their movement in a forbidden circle, but they can move freely through it without any penalty. Movement occurs normally.
- One-way circle: Characters can only move from a one-way circle in a direction indicated by the arrow.
- Moving platform circle: No character can enter or move through a platform circle unless they use a platform token.
- Movement through Secret Doors:
- For a character to use secret doors, their player must declare at the start of that character's activation that they intend to do so. This declaration does not spend movement points or an action, but it makes that character use the worst value of the characteristic queue during their activation.
- It is allowed (but not required) for a character who made this declaration to move through secret doors during their activation. To do this, that character must be adjacent to any secret door token, spend one movement point, and move to any movement circle adjacent to any secret door token. This movement does not spend an action.
- A character can cross secret doors as many times as they are able to in a turn.
- Characters cannot exit the board through secret doors, meaning they cannot remain in “secret passages” during or after their movement.
- Movement Bonus for Objective (Fire Tokens): Any character who completes an objective (according to the objective rules found on page 30 in the central part of the original rulebook) can move four circles without spending any movement points.
- Interaction with Platforms:
- Activating the platform: A character can activate the platform by spending their action while they are on any circle adjacent to a platform circle. Place the platform token on the platform circle. The character can then continue with their activation normally.
- Riding the platform: Any character adjacent to a platform token can ride the platform to the other side of the labyrinth. Riding the platform does not require an action and costs no movement. To indicate that they are riding the platform, move the character to any circle adjacent to the platform circle on the opposite side of the map. Then, place the platform token on the platform circle adjacent to the character who was moved. The character can then continue with their activation normally.
- Attack and Combat:
- Sniper circle: Any figure remaining in a sniper circle can target any figure remaining in a circle that also has the same colored sniper icon. Grenades thrown from a sniper circle can (if played using the icon) only discharge (land) on the targeted circle.
- Fire Tokens: Each time a character enters a circle on the same path as a fire token, they suffer three automatic attack successes.
- Revenants: If a character moved adjacent to a Revenant (or if a Revenant moved adjacent to a figure), the figure receives three automatic attack successes. Characters can attack Revenant tokens as if they were enemy characters. The Revenant token does not receive a defense roll and is eliminated if the attacker rolls at least two successes on the attack roll.
- Beast: If the beast is adjacent to or shares a circle with a character, at the start of any character's activation, they (the character) immediately suffer five automatic attack successes.
- Soldiers (Individual Scenario): If a soldier ends their movement on a path shared with an enemy hero, the soldier immediately suffers four automatic attack successes from that hero. A hero can attack a soldier as if it were a figure. To eliminate it, they must roll two or more successes.
- Interaction with Objectives and Specific Tokens:
- Scenario A: The Last Three Letters:
- Once a team has completed all three objectives, any character from that team, including Voivodes, adjacent to the level guide token, can spend an action to pick it up and place it on their character sheet. The token does not occupy an equipment slot.
- For each primary objective completed, add +1 to your initiative roll.
- Scenario B: I am a Revenant:
- Only Reich characters can attempt to claim the scroll token. To claim the scroll token, any hero adjacent to the token must spend an action and receive a single wound. If they are not killed this way, they can place the scroll token on their character sheet (this does not occupy an equipment slot). This action can be done even if a Revenant is standing on the scroll token.
- Scenario C: Black Fire Upon Us:
- Primary objective tokens can be discarded at the start of any activation to change the positions of two characters on the board (belonging to any player(s)).
- Secondary objectives can be discarded to add two automatic successes to any attack roll before the defense roll is made.
- Scenario D: Through Asteros' Gate:
- Any hero in a circle adjacent to Asteros' can spend an action to attempt a mental or combat test (player's choice). If this test generates at least three successes, the hero defeats Asteros and places the Asteros token on the hero's character sheet. If the hero fails this test, they suffer an automatic wound.
- Scenario E: Rebel Cry:
- After their team has completed both objectives, any character who is not a Voivode can spend their action to pick up the manuscript token from an adjacent circle. The token does not occupy an equipment slot and cannot be lost. The token can be given to an adjacent character as if it were a piece of equipment.
- Scenario F: Self-Destructive Standard:
- Each time a Union character completes an objective, instead of removing the objective, place a flag token on the objective. This objective can still be set on fire in a later activation (but cannot be completed again).
- Any opposing force character who completes an objective (according to the objective rules found on page 30 of the original manual) can move four circles without spending any movement points. After this movement, a fire has been successfully started. Place two fire tokens on any movement circle adjacent to the completed objective.
- Scenario G: We Have to Know:
- Every time a Union character is adjacent to a peasant token, they can spend an action to interrogate the peasant. Every time a character interrogates a peasant, place the peasant token on their sheet.
- Every time a non-Union character is adjacent to a peasant token, they can attack it as if it were an opposing character. As long as they generate at least one success, the peasant is killed and the token is placed in front of the player.
- Scenario H: River Running Red:
- After their team has completed three objectives, any character who is not a voivode can attempt to capture the beast. While adjacent to the beast token, they can spend an action to attempt a stamina test. If they generate at least three successes on their stamina test, they can place the beast token on their character sheet.
