About the game

What you do in a play session

Tannhäuser: Operation Hinansho is the expansion that takes your miniature warfare to a whole new level. Instead of just fighting in Tannhäuser’s war room, you can now infiltrate the Kitamon Research Base up north or venture into the Okinawa Crash Site. The new maps bring more room for cover tactics and ambushes, and the action circle rules were updated to include doors you can lock, cover fire, and even explosions that shake large areas of the board. Each player gets unique powers that change their play style – one can become a artillery master, another an infiltration specialist. Dice rolling still decides who wins a conflict, but now there are more movement and cover options, which heightens tension and unpredictability. The expansion adds new scenarios and tokens that diversify existing campaigns. If you already own Tannhäuser, you’ll enjoy exploring these fresh possibilities, and if you don’t, the expansion already brings a rich universe full of strategies to test. It’s perfect for fans of war, espionage, and miniatures who want something more dynamic and full of surprises.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers before you buy

7 questions
How many players does the expansion support?
It supports 2 to 10 players, just like the base game. If you’re playing solo, you can use the base game’s solo mechanic.
What is the average game duration with the expansion?
A game normally lasts between 60 and 120 minutes, depending on the scenario chosen and the number of players.
Do I need translated cards or components?
Yes, the expansion comes with English cards, so if you don’t speak English you’ll need a translated sheet or the translated edition if available.
Does the expansion increase game complexity?
A bit, since it adds new circle rules and cover options, but it remains accessible for those who already know Tannhäuser.
Can I use the expansion with other miniature games?
Not officially, but the components are compatible with the Tannhäuser miniature style, so you can improvise if you want.
What are the new player powers?
Each player gets a unique power: for instance, one can lock doors, another can shoot from cover, and one can detonate large areas of the map.
How does dice rolling work in the expansion?
Dice rolling stays the same: you roll the dice to determine who wins a conflict, but there are new cover options that can change the outcome.
