If you love historical themes mixed with a touch of mystery, Templar: The Secret Treasures will keep you hooked! The goal is straightforward but requires strategy: you act as an ally to the Knights Templar, tasked with hiding precious treasures—like chalices and signet rings—inside a secret abbey. But it's not just about running and hiding! Each player has a set of abbey character cards, and each one has a unique ability. Some help carry the load, others unlock doors, or even sabotage opponents by moving treasures from one place to another.
The dynamic is quite engaging because, after the first round, you must choose cards that haven't been played recently by your opponents. This creates a constant 'offense and defense' game, where you try to use a character to your advantage while simultaneously limiting your opponents' options. There's even a room-based movement system within the abbey, where the positioning of figures like Abbot Remigius or Prior Severus can completely change a treasure's fate. The Abbot might help everyone in the same room, but Prior Severus might ruin everything if he discovers your secret! The game ends when the harbor runs out of treasures or when someone manages to spread treasures across all rooms. In the end, whoever has the most treasures safely hidden and secured in the abbey wins. It's a resource management and positioning game, perfect for those looking for something light yet mentally stimulating.
