The Icy Impactors promo card arrived as part of FryxGames' 2023 winter campaign. It acts as a mini‑expansion for Terraforming Mars, giving two usable options that can shift a game's flow. For 10 M€ – titanium may be spent to lower that cost – you can place two asteroids on strategic spots on the board, boosting resource availability or blocking opponents. Alternatively, by spending one existing asteroid, the first player gets to place an ocean tile wherever they like, speeding up terraforming and netting victory points. The card is labeled X47 and can be bought separately or received for free when ordering anything from FryxGames' webstore during the winter window. As with most promos, a translated version may be needed for Portuguese‑speaking groups, but the original English text is straightforward. Within the base game, the card touches on hand management, open drafting, set collection, tile placement and variable player powers, since the holder decides when and how to trigger its effects. It also reinforces the economic, environmental and space‑exploration themes that define Terraforming Mars. In terms of playtime, the card doesn’t noticeably extend the game length, but it adds extra strategic decisions, especially in smaller player counts where each action matters more. In short, Icy Impactors is a fun add‑on for fans of the original looking for more tactical variety without needing a full expansion.

How many players can use the card?
The card can be included in games with 1 to 5 players, just like the base game.
Does it increase playtime?
It doesn’t noticeably extend the game; sessions still run about 60‑120 minutes depending on player count.
Do I need extra components?
No extra pieces are required; the card uses asteroids and ocean tiles already in the base game.
Can titanium be used to pay the 10 M€?
Yes, each titanium can replace 2 M€ toward the card’s cost.
Is there a Portuguese version of the rules?
The official text is in English; fans often provide translations for Portuguese‑speaking groups.
Is it a single card or part of a set?
It’s a single promo card (X47), though FryxGames may bundle it with other winter promos.
When is the best time to play it?
Strategically, early placement of asteroids can block opponents, while using the ocean tile later can speed up terraforming when you need points.
