The Faith Of Currencies, or 信仰通貨, is a Japanese game that puts players in the role of currency traders, but with a supernatural twist: the value of the notes depends on the faith each player places in the represented religions. Each religion has a faith cube that moves along a track, and the cube’s position determines whether the currency’s price rises, falls, or stays stable. The market board shows relative exchange rates, while the tracking board displays the faith’s evolution for each deity. At the start, two cards are revealed to set initial prices, then each player receives three cards and four additional cards are opened for a draft. The banknotes are printed in a realistic style, with five different types—from the U.S. dollar to the yuan, including the Flying Spaghetti Monster coin—and players receive two of each. In each round, which lasts one turn more than the number of players, the player can trade currencies with the bank, change their faith, or adjust market prices. When a player sells or buys, the number of notes traded moves the faith cube and consequently alters the currency’s price. If a cube completes a circuit, the round ends. Players can also trade faith cards in hand, each with effects depending on how many cards of a religion are held. The final action possible in a round is to move a faith cube and adjust the price. At the end of the last turn, points are calculated based on faith cards, relative prices, and the notes each player holds. The game allows bluffing: by trading openly, one can hint at which faith cards are held, but can also deceive opponents. In short, The Faith Of Currencies combines commodity speculation, open market mechanics, and card mechanics in a religious and fantasy setting, demanding strategy, foresight, and a touch of cunning to dominate the market and faith.
