About the game

What you do in a play session

Embark on an epic journey across Middle-earth in The Lord of the Rings, a cooperative game where you and your friends take on the roles of hobbits in the Fellowship of the Ring. The objective is clear: destroy the One Ring while resisting Sauron's dark influence, which seeks to corrupt you at every turn. Each player controls a hobbit with unique abilities, adding a tactical layer to the cooperation. You'll advance across four iconic conflict boards – Moria, Helm's Deep, Shelob's Lair, and Mordor – each testing the group's courage and strategy. To progress, you must play cards with the correct symbols, representing combat, stealth, travel, and friendship. The main board tracks both the Fellowship's physical progress and each hobbit's corruption level. Beware! If Sauron catches up to a player, they are eliminated. If the Ring-bearer falls, everyone loses. Victory is only achieved by casting the Ring into the fires of Mount Doom. The game demands hand management, dice rolling, and tough decisions about when to use the Ring's power to hide, knowing it attracts the Enemy's attention. It's a race against time and corruption, where collaboration is key to survival and success.
