About the game
What you do in a play session
Flight of the Stormcaller is the second expansion in the The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game universe, released in 2016. Set right after the events of the deluxe expansion The Grey Havens, it brings a high‑stakes maritime chase that puts players in command of a fleet of warships, including the legendary Dream‑Chaser. The goal is to capture the dreaded Stormcaller, a corsair vessel commanded by Captain Sahír, before it disappears into the turbulent waters of the Shadow Sea. To do so, heroes must manage their action cards, wield leadership abilities, and cooperate to overcome obstacles such as storms, reefs, and corsair attacks. The expansion introduces a new leadership hero, as well as three copies of each of the ten player cards, adding 60 new cards that reinforce the Gondor trait, provide support for games with fewer than three heroes, and bring fresh allies and events that deepen the cycle’s themes. Hand‑management keeps the tension alive, while variable player powers let each hero play a distinct role. If you’ve enjoyed the base game and want to test new cooperative strategies, Flight of the Stormcaller offers intense challenges and an epic narrative that keeps the Tolkien adventure vibe alive. The set includes 60 player cards, 20 event cards, 40 action cards, 12 enemy cards, and 4 scenario cards, plus damage and resource tokens. The expansion retains the minimalist aesthetic and deck‑building system of the LCG series, allowing players to tailor their strategies flexibly. A game lasts between 30 and 90 minutes, depending on hero count, and is ideal for 1–2 players who enjoy fast‑paced cooperative play and tactical decisions.
