The core set is already packed with content, featuring three challenging scenarios, twelve legendary heroes (yes, Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli are there!), and four pre-built decks so you can start playing right away. But the real magic happens when you begin constructing your own decks, exploring new tactics and increasing your chances of success. And the best part? This is a Living Card Game (LCG), meaning there's over a decade of extra content available, re-released in Campaign and Hero expansions. Campaign expansions bring new scenarios to explore, while Hero expansions add new characters and cards to power up your decks.
Although set in Middle-earth, most scenarios don't directly follow the events of The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings. Instead, they are set in the seventeen-year period between Bilbo's 111th birthday and Frodo's departure from the Shire, allowing you to create your own stories. But if you're a fan of the books, the Saga expansions recreate the events of the works, playable sequentially as a campaign, where your decisions have lasting consequences. It's an immersive experience full of impactful choices!
