About the game
What you do in a play session
Get your decks ready and brace yourselves, because the journey is heading deep underground! In 'The Watcher in the Water', you and your fellow adventurers answer the call of Elrond. The Lord of Rivendell is troubled by the growing hordes of Orcs plaguing the Misty Mountains, and the suspicion is that the source of all this chaos is hidden within the ancient and forgotten Mines of Moria. But, as any seasoned adventurer knows, entering Moria is not as simple as just opening a door.
This Adventure Pack is the third chapter of the 'Dwarrowdelf' cycle, placing heroes before one of Middle-earth's most iconic challenges: the Doors of Durin. To move forward, you must navigate foul swamps and, of course, face the dreaded Watcher in the Water. Prepare for a tense battle against monstrous tentacles that will try to block your entrance into the dwarven tunnels.
The game maintains the strategic essence of the LCG, requiring precise resource management and tight coordination with your allies. It's the kind of experience where a miscalculated combat or a card played at the wrong moment can mean defeat for the entire group. The atmosphere is thick and the sense of danger is constant, perfectly conveying the angst of being lost in ancestral caverns while something massive lurks in the dark.
Keep in mind: this is an 'Adventure Pack'. This means it is not a standalone game. To face the Watcher and explore the depths, you absolutely need The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game Core Set and the Khazad-dûm expansion. Without them, you'll be stuck at the door without even knowing who the Watcher is! If you already have the base and want to feel the tension of Moria, this is the logical next step in your quest.
