About the game
What you do in a play session
The "Nightmare Deck: The Antlered Crown" brings the classic Tolkien universe to an even higher level of tension. Instead of following just the original adventure, the deck swaps specific encounter cards for darker, more dangerous versions, creating more aggressive enemy waves and forcing heroes to plan every move carefully. The "Time X" mechanic takes center stage, as each time the marker advances, cards from the "Raven" deck are revealed, bringing twists that can turn the tide. Additionally, the deck reinforces the need for alliances with the Dunlendings, requiring players to fight and negotiate at the same time. The game retains its cooperative spirit, where all players work together against the system, but hand management becomes even more critical: discarding the wrong card can cost sequential victory. For those already familiar with the base LCG, this expansion offers fresh challenges and deeper narrative, but it isn’t recommended for beginners, as it demands familiarity with time and alliance mechanics. In terms of components, the package includes a new encounter deck, time markers, damage tokens, and an updated rulebook. If you love dark adventures and want to test your team’s resilience against fiercer foes, this deck is a must-have for your collection.
