About the game

What you do in a play session

The hunt for Gollum is heating up (or rather, sinking into mud!) in The Dead Marshes, an expansion for The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game. After tracking his signs through the wild lands of Emyn Muil, the heroes now follow the treacherous trail of our slippery friend southward. Prepare for treacherous fens and dangers at every turn, because Gollum is desperate to slip away! This adventure, the fifth in the Shadows of Mirkwood cycle, brings 60 new cards, including a scenario that introduces an 'Escape' mechanism that will make you feel Gollum's agility (and unreliability) firsthand. Will your heroes manage to capture the creature, or will it vanish again, leaving you at the mercy of monsters in the shadows of Mordor?

This adventure pack is perfect for those who already enjoy The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game and want more cooperative challenges in Middle-earth. It adds new quest and threat cards that require planning and good hand management to overcome. The language dependency is high, so be prepared to read the cards extensively. If you enjoy cooperative games with a strong theme and mechanics that immerse you in the story, The Dead Marshes is a great addition to your collection, testing your skill in a tense chase full of twists and turns. It's an expansion that truly intensifies the base game's narrative, bringing a taste of the desperation and cunning that define the pursuit of Gollum.
