About the game

What you do in a play session

The Hobbit: On the Doorstep brings the second saga expansion to the world of The Lord of the Rings – The Card Game. The story picks up where Over Hill and Under Hill left off, thrusting players into the most iconic scenes from The Hobbit. From giant spiders and the heist of Smaug’s treasure to the epic Battle of the Five Armies, the adventure unfolds across three new scenarios that demand strategy and teamwork. The set includes 165 new cards, with three copies of each player card, five brand‑new heroes, and player cards drawn directly from the second half of the novel. Each hero brings unique abilities, reinforcing the Variable Player Powers mechanic, while Hand Management keeps the pace tense and decisions critical. The expansion preserves the cooperative feel, with players working together against the game to overcome challenges. The components are top‑quality: premium cardstock, resource tokens, and the iconic progress marker. Though cooperative, each game offers a unique experience thanks to card choices and player interaction. If you’re already immersed in Tolkien’s world or want to expand your collection, The Hobbit: On the Doorstep delivers hours of engaging play, packed with nostalgia and fresh strategy.
