Battle of Lake-town is the second print‑on‑demand encounter deck for The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game. Released at GenCon 2012, it isn’t a full monthly expansion but brings an epic scenario that pits Tolkien’s heroes against the terror of Smaug, the dragon threatening Lake‑town. The story starts with locals thinking the dragon is just a legend, but when it emerges from the Lonely Mountain at night, they discover Smaug has stolen his treasure and demands revenge. The players’ mission? Protect the town by using action cards, characters, and allies to face the dragon’s wrath before it burns everything. The game retains the cooperative and hand‑management mechanics that define the LCG series but adds variable player powers that let each hero play a unique role in the fight. Each 60‑minute session accommodates 1‑2 players and is ideal for those who already own the base game and want to dive into an extra adventure. The scenario also works as a solo, since the LCG provides solitaire rules, letting you test the deck against your own table. If you love Tolkien’s atmosphere, crave a cooperative challenge, and don’t mind needing the base game, Battle of Lake-town is a solid choice to expand your card arsenal.
