Hey there, Middle-earth fan and card game enthusiast! Get ready to embark on a cooperative adventure that takes you directly into the events of 'The Fellowship of the Ring' with 'The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring – Trick-Taking Game'! This isn't just another trick-taking game; it's a journey through eighteen chapters that unfold like the book's narrative itself, ideally played in sequence for total immersion. But if you're in a hurry, you can play them in any order, no problem. In each chapter, you and your friends take on iconic roles like Frodo, Gandalf, Sam, or even Farmer Maggot, each with a unique victory condition to advance the story. For example, Frodo needs to collect Ring cards, while Pippin has to strive to take as few tricks as possible. As the story progresses, new characters, items, and challenges are introduced, keeping the experience fresh and exciting. The deck has 37 cards, and in each hand, one is 'lost,' adding a touch of uncertainty. Whoever is dealt The One Ring becomes Frodo, and the others choose their characters based on the cards they hold. The One Ring is the only trump card, but it can't be led right away; someone needs to play an off-suit card first. If you're playing with two, a 'dummy player' joins in, with some cards visible and others hidden, and one of you controls it. For solo wolves, the solitaire mode lets you control four hands of face-up cards, with assigned characters and cards released gradually, replacing a new card after each trick. And if you already own 'The Road Goes Ever On...', you can add a bunch of extra characters, like Bilbo (Peculiar), Tom Bombadil, Glorfindel, and many others to further expand your adventures!

How many players can participate and what is the average game duration?
This game is super flexible! It can be played by 1 to 4 players. A complete game, meaning one chapter, usually takes between 20 and 20 minutes. Perfect for a quick session or multiple rounds in sequence.
What is the game's complexity? Is it easy for beginners?
With a BGG weight of 1.9538/5, it's considered light to medium complexity. If you're already familiar with trick-taking games, you'll pick it up quickly. Even for beginners, the rules are accessible, but cooperation and communication limits add an interesting strategic layer.
Do I need to know the story of 'The Lord of the Rings' to play?
It's not mandatory, but it greatly enhances immersion! The game follows the narrative of 'The Fellowship of the Ring' and the characters are iconic. Knowing the story will enrich your experience, but the rules and objectives are clear enough for those who haven't read the books.
What are the 'chapters' and how do they work?
The chapters are like individual missions or scenarios that recreate specific events from the book. Each has a different objective for the characters. You can play them in any order you like, but the narrative experience is richer if you follow the sequence, like a campaign.
How does the solo mode work?
In solo mode, you control four hands of face-up cards. Each hand represents a different character, and you need to manage the available cards to complete the chapter objectives. It's a challenging puzzle for a single player!
Can I add more characters or content to the game?
Yes! If you already own 'The Road Goes Ever On...', you can integrate several additional characters, such as Bilbo, Tom Bombadil, Glorfindel, among others. This greatly expands the variety of roles and strategies available.
