About the game

What you do in a play session

If you thought you'd seen it all in Quedlinburg's potions and trickery, get ready! "Wolfgang's Exchange Office" is that mini-expansion that sneaks in, bringing some cool new twists to shake up your strategy. This little gem, which came in the "Deutscher Spielepreis 2018 Goodie Box," adds special scoring conditions that you'll have to work towards throughout the game. It's important to know that it only works with the front sides of the cauldrons, as it uses an extra droplet marker for each player. Setup is simple: a test tube stand goes in the middle of the table, and you choose either the brown or green side. Each player places their droplet on the first tube, which is worth more points initially. During the game, when you have the opportunity to advance your droplet, you have the option to move it on the test tube stand instead of following the normal rule for your cauldron. The brown side of the scoring board rewards you at the end of the game based on the sum of your chip values, divided by the value of the tube where your droplet landed. The further you get on the tube, the higher the score! The green side, on the other hand, allows you to buy victory points with shopping coins each round, and the price of each point depends on where your droplet is. Once again, the further along the tube, the cheaper the point! It's a new way to take risks and plan your moves, adding another layer of decision-making and fun to the already chaotic world of Quedlinburg's alchemists.

Absolutely! "Wolfgang's Exchange Office" is an expansion and can only be played with the base game.
How many players can use this expansion?
Just like the base game, it's designed for 2 to 4 players.
Does the game's complexity increase significantly with this expansion?
Not by much. It adds an extra layer of strategy and decision-making, but the core "push your luck" mechanic remains the same. It's quite easy to learn.
What components come with this expansion?
It includes a test tube board, droplet markers, and some new rules to integrate with the base game.
Do I need to translate anything to play?
Yes, as it's an expansion with some new rules and scoring, it's recommended to have a translated reference or translated cards/board for easier play.
Does this expansion work with all other Quacks expansions?
This mini-expansion is designed to be used with the front side of the base game cauldrons. Compatibility with other expansions may vary, but it generally adds to the core experience.
