Objective of the Game
Thunder Road: Vendetta – Maximum Chrome Edition is a high-octane game of vehicular combat and racing. Players command their crews as they race across dangerous roads, slam into rivals, and unleash firepower. The game ends when one of two conditions is met:
- A player moves one of their road vehicles onto the Finish Line tile.
- A player is the last one standing with operable vehicles.
Preparation (Setup)
Follow these steps to set up the base game:
- Choose a starting rear road tile (either 1a: The Parking Lot or 1b: Runway to Ruin) and place it on the table. Shuffle the remaining road tiles to form a draw pile. Draw the top tile to place as the middle road tile, then draw another for the lead road tile.
- Shuffle the hazard tokens and place one face down on each hazard space on all three tiles. Place the rest in a face-down pile.
- Shuffle the damage tokens and place them face down in a pile.
- Place the FX dice (shooting, slam, direction, stunt, and road die) near the play area.
- Each player chooses a crew color and takes their command board, 3 dashboards, 3 cars, chopper, and 4 movement dice. Place their cars in the starting area behind the rear tile.
- Players roll their movement dice. The player with the lowest total becomes the first player for the first round.
- The first player rolls the road die and places it visibly near the board.
For expansion setups (e.g., Big Rig, Final Five, or Carnage at Devil’s Run), consult the manual for details.
Flow of the Game
The game is played in turns and rounds:
- A round consists of each player taking 3 turns.
- On your turn, follow these steps in order:
- Assign a die to an operable road vehicle.
- Activate a command (once per round).
- Move the assigned vehicle.
- Shoot with that vehicle (if possible).
At the start of each round, all players reroll their movement dice, and the first player rolls the road die.
Actions and How to Play
Commands
Once per round, you may assign a die to a command on your command board:
- Airstrike (any die): Place your chopper on an empty space and shoot with it.
- Nitro (1-3): Increase your vehicle’s moves by the die value.
- Drift (3-5): Pass through the first road vehicle you enter without slamming.
- Repair (6): Remove one damage token from a vehicle.
Moving
Move your vehicle based on the assigned die:
- Vehicles must move into their front arc (front, front-left, or front-right).
- If you enter a space with another road vehicle, resolve a slam (roll the slam die and direction die).
- If you stay on road spaces, gain bonus moves equal to the road die.
Shooting
After moving, shoot at a target in your front arc:
- Roll the shooting die. If it matches the target’s size, they take damage.
- Cars draw a damage token; motorcycles take minor damage.
End of Game and Scoring
The game ends when:
- A player moves onto the Finish Line (winning immediately).
- Only one player has operable vehicles left.
Elimination occurs if a vehicle:
- Enters an impassable space.
- Ends a turn in a chopper’s space.
- Is on the rear tile when it’s removed.
Tips to Win
- Use the road die wisely: Staying on road spaces grants bonus moves.
- Prioritize repairs: Keep your vehicles operable to avoid being sidelined.
- Control the chopper: Eliminate rivals by positioning your chopper strategically.
