Game Objective

In the world of Tiny Epic Pirates: Curse of Amdiak, you are a pirate who has stolen a piece of treasure from the legendary Ghost Pirate Amdiak. Now, he has returned from the depths to reclaim what is his. To win the game, you must be the first player to fulfill two requirements: bury your 3 Treasures and bury Amdiak's Urn in a Cursed Burial Site.

Setup

To set up the expansion, follow these steps:

  • The Sea: Shuffle the 4 Cursed Map Cards with the other cards and form a 4x5 grid. Place Search Markers face down on all 20 cards.
  • Ghost Ship: Place the Ghost Ship on the Map Card in the opposite corner from the Frigate. Place the Ghost Ship Card, face up, next to the Market Board.
  • Resources and Cards:
    • Place the Cursed Gold Cubes in a supply. Each player receives 1 Cursed Gold, placed in the “2” space of their Gold Track (above the Doubloon).
    • Give each player a Cursed Captain Card corresponding to their Captain Card.
    • Place one Amdiak's Urn of each player's color near the Ghost Ship Card.
    • Shuffle the Skeleton Crew Cards and place them below the normal Crew Pile. Reveal 3 cards to create the Skeleton Crew line.
    • Shuffle the Ghost Goods Markers and place them face down in the box lid.

Game Flow

The game follows the turn structure and navigation of the base system, with the following additions:

  • Ghost Ship Navigation: When a player's captain crosses the Ship Line, the Ghost Ship is the fourth to sail (after the Merchant Ships and the Frigate). It always sails 2 spaces and is moved by the player to the right of the active player.
  • Goods Trail: Whenever the Ghost Ship leaves a Map Card, it leaves a Ghost Goods Marker face down (provided one doesn't already exist there).
  • Being Haunted: If you have crossed the Ship Line and the Ghost Ship sails to your Map Card (or you sail to its), you are haunted. The resolution order is:
    1. Check if the captain becomes Cursed.
    2. Your ship is Pushed and you must move 1 Sailor to Repair.
    3. All your Cursed Gold is moved from your Gold Track to the Ghost Ship (excess returns to the supply).

Actions and How to Play

Cursed Gold

Cursed Gold increases your total gold by +1. They are placed in the spaces above your Doubloon on the Gold Track. If your Doubloon moves up, the cubes move up with it. If the Doubloon is in space “13”, the Cursed Gold can remain above the board and still be used.

When Burying a Treasure, you can spend Cursed Gold before moving the Doubloon down. Spent gold goes to the Ghost Ship or the supply.

Interactions with the Ghost Ship

  • Theft: When sailing to the Map Card where the Ghost Ship is located, you steal 1 Cursed Gold from it (maximum of 4). This can only be done once per Sail action.
  • Goods Search: Instead of revealing a Search Marker, you can reveal a Ghost Goods Marker. This can grant 1 Cursed Gold or cause effects like the Zombie Sirens, which push your ship.

Cursed Captain

The first time you are haunted, you swap your Captain Card for the Cursed Captain Card. This changes your orders:

  • Cursed Plunder: In addition to the loot, you can receive 1 Cursed Gold from the supply.
  • Cursed Attack: When defeating another player, you steal 1 Cursed Gold from their Gold Track.
  • Recruit Cursed: Allows you to gain Skeleton Crew at Shipwreck Sites.

Amdiak's Urn

  • Obtaining: You must Trade at a Mausoleum (on a Cursed Map Card), spending 2 Cursed Gold.
  • Burial: Use the Bury Treasure Bonus Action on a Cursed Ground. When doing so, you MUST lose all your gold (normal and cursed), moving the Doubloon to “zero” and sending the Cursed Gold to the Ghost Ship.

Skeleton Crew

They function like normal crew (limit of 4). Some Bonus Actions require paying Cursed Gold to:

  • Buy additional loot when Plundering.
  • Perform an additional Search on an adjacent card.
  • Reroll dice in attacks.
  • Convert Cursed Gold into normal gold (1 for 2) while in the Hideout.

End of Game and Scoring

The game ends immediately when the first player manages to:

  • Bury their 3 Treasures; AND
  • Bury Amdiak's Urn in a Cursed Ground.

Victory Condition: The first to complete both requirements above wins. You cannot win the game if you have not buried your Urn.

Tips for Winning

  • Risk Management: Use Cursed Gold to boost your Search and Plunder actions, but remember that being haunted by the Ghost Ship will make you lose all of this resource.
  • Strategic Recruitment: If you are Cursed, use the Shipwreck Sites to recruit Skeleton Crew, which offers powerful reroll and market loot movement abilities.
