About the game
In Word on the Street, get ready for a vocabulary showdown where teams (or solo players, if you prefer the challenge) compete for letters directly from the game board! The idea is simple and brilliant: seventeen consonants (all except J, Q, X, and Z) are placed in the center of the board, like a median strip on a busy street, with two traffic lanes on either side. Each turn, a team draws a category card – like “types of fruit” or “something a player is wearing” – and has just thirty seconds to come up with a word that fits. Found the word? Great! Now, it's time to move the letters of that word towards your side of the board. If the word were “pineapple,” for example, you would move P, I, N, E, A, P, P, L, E. Letters not on the board are skipped, of course. The goal is to pull the letters off the game board, to your side of the street. Once a letter is off, it's yours forever! The first team to claim eight letter tiles is crowned the word champion. It's a fast-paced, fun game that will make you sweat to find that perfect word before time runs out!
