About the game
What you do in a play session
Worldspanner Factions, Set 1: Heroes is the fresh star that’s set to revamp the Duel of Ages universe. Instead of being locked into one setting, you now command teams of heroes from the past, present, and even future, each with powers that can swing the game. The game runs on a modular hexagonal board, where each piece can be assembled differently every session, ensuring no two maps are alike. Turns are neatly split: your team takes one action per hero (move, attack, summon a minion), then the other team reacts, and then you dive into adventures that earn objective points outside of combat, like forging alliances with factions. All of this happens over 9 or 12 rounds, after which you tally points and the winner emerges. The content is massive – 49 heroes, 90 treasures, and board pieces that allow for an almost infinite universe of combinations. And if you think that’s enough, expansions bump the hero and treasure count to 360, turning the game into a full‑blown strategy and narrative marathon. Rules were streamlined from Duel of Ages, making the learning curve smoother, but depth remains with mechanics like line of sight, stat checks, and unique character powers. If you love team play, tactical RPGs, and epic stories that change every game, Worldspanner Factions is what your table has been missing.
