About the game
What you do in a play session
Xia: Legends of a Drift System – Sellsword is an add‑on that introduces two exclusive ship miniatures to the Xia universe. The first, released in blue during the original 2013 Kickstarter, is a display piece that can also serve as a presence marker on the board. The Mk II version, shown in yellow in the 2016 and 2018 campaigns, includes the "Void Wasp" ship mat, its unique ability card and an RK‑5 blaster outfit, making the miniature a fully playable ship for a player.
Beyond the miniatures, the expansion adds resource tokens, damage markers, and a small set of cards that mesh with Xia's core mechanics: action points, dice rolling, grid movement, and cargo delivery. These components slot seamlessly into the modular board, trading system, and variable player powers, opening new routes, combat encounters, and profit opportunities. The "push your luck" element appears when using the RK‑5 blaster, which can deal heavy damage but risks overheating.
Sellsword is aimed at groups of 3‑5 players already familiar with Xia who want more tactical and visual depth. Playtime remains around two to three hours, similar to the base game. Because the expansion adds only a handful of pieces and cards, the learning curve is minimal – just insert the new miniatures and follow the ability card rules. If you love detailed miniatures, space battles, and piloting your own ship, this add‑on will make your campaign feel even more immersive.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers before you buy
How many players can use the expansion?
Sellsword works with 3 to 5 players, provided they are playing the base Xia game.
Does the expansion add extra playing time?
Usually it doesn’t; games still run about 120‑180 minutes.
Do I need extra components to use the Mk II miniature?
Yes, the "Void Wasp" ship mat, its ability card, and the RK‑5 blaster are included in the expansion box.
Can the blue miniature be used as a playable ship?
The blue version is purely decorative; to play a ship you need the yellow Mk II.
Do I need to know all Xia mechanics before buying?
It helps to know the core Xia rules, but the expansion’s learning curve is very low.
