How to Play Zooloretto: Christmas Gift

Game Objective

Zooloretto: Christmas Gift is an expansion for 2 to 5 players that can only be played with the Zooloretto base game. The overall objective of the base game remains, but with this expansion, players also aim to accumulate points through the Enclosure with the Christmas Gift, which offers additional points at the end of the game.

Setup

To set up the game with the Christmas Gift expansion:

• The Enclosure with the Christmas Gift is placed face up in the center of the table.
• All other setup rules from the Zooloretto base game apply.

Gameplay Flow

The game follows all rules of the Zooloretto base game, with the following modifications:

• The first player to fill their 6-space Enclosure receives the Enclosure with the Christmas Gift as a bonus.
• They take it from the center of the table and place it below their Expansion Board, near their Barn.
• The Enclosure with the Christmas Gift remains with this player until the end of the game.

Actions and How to Play

The actions of the Zooloretto base game apply, with a specific change to the discard action:

• If a player chooses the "Discard a Tile" action, the tile is not removed from the game. Instead, it is placed in the Enclosure with the Christmas Gift and remains there until the end of the game.
• No Remodeling Action is allowed with the tiles that are in the Enclosure with the Christmas Gift.
• If there are multiple tiles in the Christmas Gift, they are stacked.

Note on other expansions: If the Christmas Gift is played with the Gorilla, Polar Bear, and/or other similar expansions, the first player can choose which enclosure to take. Other players choose from the remaining enclosures when filling their own 6-space Enclosure.

End of Game and Scoring

The game ends according to the rules of the Zooloretto base game. In the final scoring:

• The owner of the Enclosure with the Christmas Gift receives 1 point for each tile present in it.
• All other scoring rules from the base game apply.

Tips for Winning

• Prioritize filling your 6-space Enclosure as quickly as possible to acquire the Enclosure with the Christmas Gift. This guarantees a source of additional points at the end of the game.
• Pay attention to other players' "Discard a Tile" actions. If you are the owner of the Enclosure with the Christmas Gift, each tile discarded by any player contributes to your final score.
