Imagine you are a ghost fighting for control of the most haunted mansion around, but there's a catch: to rule, you need the perfect hiding spot. In 13 Ghosts, the battle for the throne takes place in a fast-paced and tense microgame where the goal is simple, yet requires cunning: you must discover which ghost is hidden in your opponent's crypt. Each player starts with a secret ghost, numbered from 1 to 13, which defines their identity and their fate in the match. The game uses two sets of cards to accommodate up to four players, ensuring the deduction dynamics work smoothly.
The gameplay revolves around how you use the cards in your hand. You have two primary choices each turn: play the card face up to activate that ghost's special ability, trying to manipulate the situation in your favor, or play the card face down to launch an attack. The attack is the critical moment: you attempt to guess the number of the ghost hidden in the opponent's crypt. If you guess correctly, the opponent is immediately eliminated from the game. It's a game of cat and mouse, where every card played face up reveals precious information, narrowing down the possibilities and making the deduction more precise.
As abilities are activated and cards are played, the circle closes in. The tension rises because you know that at any moment, someone might have the right card to kick you out of the mansion. It's the perfect kind of game for those who enjoy quick card games with a touch of psychology and the adrenaline of knowing that a single mistake can knock you out of the game. The last ghost remaining in the mansion is crowned the new ruler. Simple, direct, and cruel — exactly how a ghost fight should be!
