1936: Guerra Civil is an intense and strategic card game that pits two players against each other as the opposing sides of the Spanish Civil War: the Republic and the Nationalists. Each player builds their own deck from a pool of over a hundred cards, selecting at least 36 of them. The game blends political and military elements, with objective cards that grant victory points. Winning isn't just about brute force: you can win through military points, political points, a combination of both, or even by demoralizing the enemy. The cards include objectives, characters, military units, and management cards, all richly illustrated with images from Spanish public archives and packed with historical details. Despite the heavy theme, the rules are straightforward and the game flows well, with matches lasting between 45 and 90 minutes.
