About the game
What you do in a play session
Ever had that moment in 7 Wonders where you look at your neighbor and think, 'Man, I really needed that resource or that building'? Well, 7 Wonders: Edifice is here to shake up the spirit of cooperation (or pure self-interest!) at your table. This expansion introduces Edifices, which are communal projects that pop up throughout the ages. The concept is simple yet creates delicious tension: you can choose to invest resources to help construct a building, and if it gets completed, everyone who participated gets an amazing reward. But don't be fooled into thinking it's all about being nice! If a building is proposed and nobody steps up to help, those who stayed on the sidelines will end up paying the price with heavy penalties, such as losing coins or even incurring point debts.
For each age (I, II, and III), there will be edifice cards available to the group. During your Wonder construction phase, you can decide to pay the extra cost of an edifice to secure your participation marker. Once the last marker is placed, the building is completed and the celebration begins with the bonuses. If the age ends and the project remains unfinished, get your wallet (or your mental game) ready, because penalties will hit those who didn't collaborate. Additionally, the expansion brings two new double-sided Wonders: Ur, which is exclusive to this expansion, and Carthage, which can be integrated into any 7 Wonders game. It's the perfect seasoning for players who want to add an element of 'everyone against the risk' without losing the classic agility of the base game. It is ideal for those who have mastered drafting and want an extra layer of strategic decision-making and social interaction!
