7 Wonders: Leaders is the expansion that adds 42 cards to the classic 7 Wonders. Among them, four new guilds, a new wonder – the glorious Rome – and 36 Leader cards, each with a unique power and an gold cost. At the start, each player receives four Leaders in hand and can play one per age, but note: gold isn’t a common resource; it must be managed like real money, making the cash flow tighter. The most fun new element is the 6 gold tokens, made of cardboard, that simplify counting and avoid confusion. The game keeps the same card-building mechanics, but leaders add a layer of strategy: pick the right leader to complement your hand, or use its power to destabilize the competition. The expansion doesn’t change the civilization card rules, but the presence of leaders makes each game more personalized and unpredictable. If you already master 7 Wonders and want something that adds depth and competition, Leaders is the right choice. It works well for 2 to 7 players, keeping the average time around 40 minutes, but can take a bit longer if you explore all leader combinations.
