Alias is the party game that brings people together around a board, a deck of cards, and a bunch of words ranging from "duck" to "12‑meter chocolate factory iron belt". Each card contains six words numbered 1 to 6, and the board has spaces numbered 1 to 6. In each turn a team selects a player to be the explainer, who draws unseen cards and tries to make the teammate guess the word that matches the number of the space where the team’s piece landed. The explainer has a limited time, and if they use the forbidden word or run out of time, the team loses the turn. The acting/miming mechanic demands creativity: you can say "something a sportsman wins at the Olympics" for "Silver Medal", but you can’t use the word "Medal" directly. The game blends point‑to‑point movement, racing to finish first, and teamwork, all in a fast 60‑minute pace. Alias has a range of editions, from Junior Alias to Family Alias, each retaining the core description‑and‑guessing loop. It’s perfect for parties, friend gatherings, or anyone who wants to test vocabulary in a fun way. With 4 to 12 players, a 60‑minute playtime, and an average rating of 1.25/5 on BGG, Alias proves to be a light yet demanding experience that requires focus and improvisation. If you enjoy party games that challenge creativity and quick thinking, Alias is the right pick – and it’s worth trying the different editions to see which fits your group best.
