About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready for chaos on LV-426! In Aliens: This Time It's War, the tension is palpable. This duel-focused card game pits two players against each other in a visceral struggle: on one side, the Colonial Marines fighting to survive and escape; on the other, an relentless horde of xenomorphs aiming to wipe out all human life. It is a project centered on the cinematic experience of the 1986 film, where every move counts and strategy can shift in the blink of an eye.

The mechanics are straightforward but demand sharp thinking. The game uses a five-column system representing consecutive melees. As a player, you must manage your hand of cards carefully, as each card has specific power and cost values. There are no complicated icons; clarity is the focus. You must decide, for instance, if it is worth spending precious resources to deploy the Powerloader during a critical battle or if it is better to save your strength for a more opportune moment. The Alien player, meanwhile, can try to summon the Queen, but the cost of doing so varies drastically depending on the stage of the game.

The design is intentionally asymmetrical. The decks are balanced but offer completely different playstyles. The Marines have high-tech weaponry, while the Aliens rely on sheer numbers and aggression. The victory conditions are also thematic: the Marines must survive until extraction or nuke the site, while the Aliens win if they kill or cocoon the entire squad. It is a fast-paced, bloodthirsty game that requires constant tactical decisions. If you enjoy a solid card duel with a strong theme, this is a must-have for your collection.
