In Andromeda, players take on the roles of spacefaring races vying for control and technology in a newly discovered planetary system. Humanity may be long gone, but the race for power is more alive than ever! Your goal is to establish Economic Centers on the moons of seven planets, using your bases (wooden cubes) to dominate territories. Each round, players can play special action cards, then participate in a rather unique trading phase, and finally perform main actions. The trading mechanic is one of the highlights: the starting player offers cards, and others simultaneously respond with their offers, creating a blind auction to see who gets the best deal. Actions include discarding and drawing cards, sending cubes from Earth to planets, or attempting to establish colonies. To colonize, you use sets of cards to send cubes to a 'cosmic ashtray,' from which they are randomly drawn. If your cube appears, you place it on a station; if it's a rival's, it returns to Earth. Set collection is crucial, as 'pure' (no wild cards) sets can yield bonuses. The game ends when all stations on three planets are occupied, and victory goes to the player with the most victory points, earned through tech levels, controlled stations, and remaining cubes on Earth. It's a game that blends luck and strategy, with trading being a central element to mitigate the random factor.
