About the game
What you do in a play session
At the edge of space, the mighty houses of Old‑Earth have uncovered a rich source of Atlum energy in the Abyssi cluster, a system of six alien planets striving for peace. In Sovereign Skies each player leads a political faction vying to occupy those worlds, recruit influential politicians and amass power. The board depicts the Abyssi system divided into zones where majority or influence determines who controls resources and victory points. Actions are programmed in an Action Queue and resolved in order, letting you plan moves ahead of time. A rondel dictates which types of actions—moving workers, harvesting Atlum, influencing colonies—are available each turn, creating a strategic trade‑off between pushing forward quickly or waiting for better options. Meanwhile, collecting sets of politicians and influence cards provides secondary goals that grant valuable bonuses. The game blends action‑programming, area control and set collection mechanics into a 30‑60 minute session for 1‑4 players. The learning curve is gentle, perfect for newcomers to political‑science‑fiction strategy, yet deep enough for veterans who love optimizing their action queue and battling for area dominance. High‑quality components, a futuristic art style and well‑organized rules deliver an immersive experience, although the rulebook can feel dense for those unfamiliar with hobby‑gaming terminology. In the end, the player who balances occupation, recruitment and influence becomes the sovereign of the Skies.
