Aquaretto

Aquaretto puts you in charge of an aquatic zoo, with the goal of building the most impressive park and racking up the highest victory‑point total. Each game starts with a bag of random animal tiles. On your turn you choose either to draw a new animal and place it on one of the transport trucks, or to take a truck already in play. When a truck is taken, all the animals it carries are added to your water park, but there’s a catch: different species cannot sit next to each other, so you must carefully plan where each creature goes.

Set collection drives the strategy – the more diverse species you gather, the more points you score. If you manage to acquire both a male and a female of the same species, they can breed, giving you a baby tile and extra variety. Coins are also in the mix, letting you perform special actions such as moving animals or earning scoring bonuses.

While perfectly playable as a standalone title, Aquaretto also works as an expansion for Zooloretto, creating a mega‑game where the two systems complement each other. The experience is a touch more involved than its cousin, with extra scoring options like workers that interact with fish symbols in your park. A 45‑minute playtime suits a casual evening, supporting 2‑5 players. With a light weight (2.1/5), the learning curve is gentle, yet the tactical choices keep the game engaging until the final animal is placed.
