About the game
What you do in a play session
Imagine a struggle of etiquette and strategy where having 'less' is actually having more. In Archduke, the objective is simple, but the execution is pure tension: you want to end the round with the lowest possible point sum. Each player starts with four cards face-down. The catch? You only get to peek at two of them at the start. The others? A total mystery, and that's where the fun (and the desperation) begins.
Throughout the game, you draw cards and must decide: do I swap this card for one in my hand (which I might not even know the value of) or do I discard it? If you discard, you may trigger special abilities that allow you to peek at other players' cards, swap cards between players, or simply 'push' a problem onto your neighbor. It's a constant game of risk management. You try to get rid of high cards (up to 13 points) and hunt for low or negative cards (down to -3 points).
The climax happens when someone decides their hand is low enough and calls "Archduke!". This immediately ends the round, and everyone reveals their cards. If the person who called it actually has the lowest score, congratulations! If not, get ready for the table's laughter. The game continues over several rounds until someone reaches the agreed-upon point limit. It's fast, dynamic, and perfect for those who enjoy memory games with a touch of mischief and bluffing. If you love games where luck meets memory and the ability to trick your friends, Archduke is the right choice for your next game night.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers before you buy
Is the game hard to learn?
Not at all! The rules are super simple, and you can explain it to your group in less than 5 minutes.
How long does a game take?
Each round is lightning fast, and the full game usually lasts between 15 and 25 minutes, depending on the point limit you set.
Does it work well with 2 players?
Yes, but the game really shines with more people, where the 'Take That' and bluffing elements become more intense.
Do I need a great memory to play?
A bit! You need to remember the position of the cards you peeked at, but the game is more about risk management than being a memory genius.
Is it suitable for children?
Definitely. Since it's a simple card game with memory dynamics, older children usually love it.
