About the game
What you do in a play session
Get your best 'it wasn't me' face ready, because Coup is the ultimate game for anyone who loves a good lie! The premise is simple yet treacherous: you want to be the last player standing with influence. Each player starts with two face-down character cards representing their power. The catch? You can claim to hold any character in the deck to trigger their special abilities, but if someone calls your bluff and you're lying, the consequences are harsh! If caught, you lose one of your influence cards. If you were telling the truth, the challenger loses one instead. It's a constant cycle of suspicion, reading people, and calculated risks.
The Coup: Reformation expansion cranks up the chaos and tension even higher. It introduces factions—Catholics and Protestants. Now, you aren't just targeting individuals; you're dealing with groups with conflicting interests. You can even convert players to your faction by paying donations to the treasury, adding a strategic layer of 'who is my ally now?'. But don't get too comfortable: even if you work together to wipe out the opposing faction, civil war is inevitable. Eventually, the fighting turns inward, because in Coup, there is only room for one winner. It's fast, it's biting, and it's perfect for a quick warm-up or for lightheartedly destroying friendships among your gaming group.
