About the game
What you do in a play session
If you love the tension of not knowing who is your ally and who is trying to screw you over, get ready! Leaders of Euphoria: Choose a Better Oppressor takes us back to the early days of the city of Euphoria, long before the main game's events. The atmosphere is one of intense political struggle between the Euphorians and the Subterrans. Your goal is simple yet dangerous: pick a side, find allies, and try to banish the opposition to secure your place at the top of this dystopian society.
The game functions as an evolution of the 'Good Cop Bad Cop' style, but with much deeper layers. Each player has three cards facing them that determine their faction, and the big challenge is the constant investigation: you must figure out who truly belongs to your team without exposing your own hand. The card dynamic is quite engaging; instead of standard equipment, you deal with Old World artifacts that can be used or passed during the artifact phase.
One feature I found brilliant is the 'Recruit' mechanic. Unlike many other deduction games, here you can use your turn to hide a recruit, which is vital because certain important actions can only be performed if you have a hidden recruit to expose. And don't worry—if you get banished from the city, you don't have to leave the table! The game solves this by turning you into a 'Wastelander', who gains a completely new victory condition. It's a fast-paced game of heavy interaction that requires a sharp memory to avoid falling for cheap bluffs. It's guaranteed fun for those who enjoy reading people and manipulating the board!
