About the game

What you do in a play session

In Battle for Moscow: Operation Typhoon, 1941, you are transported to the dramatic setting of the Eastern Front of World War II, reliving Operation Typhoon. In September 1941, the German High Command launched its final, decisive offensive to capture Moscow and dismantle the Red Army. German tanks and infantry advanced relentlessly, even spotting the Kremlin spires, while the Soviet government in Moscow panicked, burning documents and evacuating Lenin's body. The Russian capital hung by a thread, and the fate of the war seemed uncertain.

However, by December 5, the German advance was halted across the entire front. Exhausted and demoralized, they narrowly failed in their objective as the harsh Russian winter intensified. This introductory wargame from Victory Point Games, part of the popular Battlesson™ series, offers new players an opportunity to dive into this fascinating hobby. With an 11"x17" color map, 40 die-cut pieces, a 4-page rulebook, plus a player aid sheet and a Battlesson™ guide, the game simulates the campaign where each unit represents a German corps or a Russian army, and each turn covers one to two weeks. Prepare to command your troops and rewrite history, feeling the tension of one of the most critical moments of World War II.
