About the game
What you do in a play session
Beasts of Balance blends strategy, dexterity and tech to turn the tabletop into a tiny digital ecosystem. For 1‑5 players, each participant receives a set of beautifully sculpted animal pieces and, on their turn, stacks them to build a tower. As soon as a piece lands, an internal sensor recognises it via Bluetooth and displays it on a connected tablet or smartphone, showing the creature evolving, changing colour and gaining special abilities. The cooperative goal is to create the most fabulous world possible, using tactical placement and activating skill‑based “miracles” before the tower topples. The game ends abruptly when the structure loses balance – the dreaded sudden‑death ending – making each session short (15‑30 minutes) and tense. The experience combines the tactile feel of stacking real pieces with digital animation, giving the impression of truly caring for creatures that grow before your eyes. Although the learning curve is gentle (weight 1.2), the electronic component requires an iOS or Android device and a relatively interference‑free Bluetooth environment. It’s perfect for players who enjoy party games that demand little chatter but plenty of coordination, and for those who love watching physical components come to life on screen. If the tower falls, frustration is real, but the fun of seeing the animals evolve usually outweighs the risk, especially among friends who like quick, cooperative challenges.
