About the game

What you do in a play session

Get your best smug face ready, because you've just entered the finals of the World Boasting Championship! In Boast or Nothing, you aren't just a player; you're a contestant trying to prove you're the biggest show-off in the room. The goal? Win over the crowd's popularity and secure free drinks for life (or at least until the game ends). This is a trick-taking game, but with a chaotic twist that will keep you on your toes.

The deck consists of three colors—red, blue, and yellow—plus some 'pass' cards. The real magic lies in the trump system: there's a tower of colored tokens that dictates which color rules the round. If you play a card of the color currently at the top of the tower, it acts as the trump! Even better, once a trick is won, the token of the winning color moves to the bottom of the stack, completely shifting the hierarchy for the next round. This means what was powerful might become weak, and what was irrelevant could become king.

But don't be fooled; the strategy here is delightfully unpredictable. You need to win the exact number of tricks required based on the player count to score. Won three tricks in a 3-player game? Point! Won two in a 4-player game? Point! But here's the kicker: if you are so 'clumsy' (or strategically brilliant) that you win zero tricks, you score two points at once! It's the classic 'lose to win' scenario. The game ends when someone reaches the top of the popularity track. It's fast, dynamic, and perfect for anyone looking for a card game that isn't just about 'following suit,' but about managing the glorious chaos of a boasting contest.
