About the game

What you do in a play session

If you are a fan of puzzles and enjoy the thrill of fitting pieces before time runs out, BITS is the right choice. Created by the master Reiner Knizia, this game is like a compact cousin of the classic FITS, offering a frenetic puzzle experience where everyone plays simultaneously. The premise is simple, but the challenge is real: each player has their own board and must place falling colored tiles. The clever twist is the movement: you place tiles at the top, and they slide down until they hit an obstacle or another piece, requiring you to think quickly about where each shape will land.

The game takes place over three intense rounds. At the start of each, a task card is revealed, dictating what you must (or must not) do to score. It could be creating specific color groups or completing complex geometric shapes. The secret is that as building cards are flipped, all players receive the same piece and must deal with it simultaneously. You cannot copy your neighbor, as everyone's board state is different, and a miscalculation early on can cost you dearly by the end of the round.

This 'Mitbringspiel' version is the travel edition, perfect for throwing in your backpack. It is slightly leaner than the original BITS, using paper tiles instead of plastic and focusing on three rounds of pure spatial strategy. Although it is a competitive game, it works very well as a solo challenge, where you try to beat your own score or meet targets set by the manual. It is a light, fast game that makes your brain work without needing hours of explanation. If you like Tetris or any game involving spatial awareness and tile management, BITS will find a permanent spot on your shelf of quick games. It is that kind of game you play once, and before you know it, you are already in the third round asking for a rematch.
