About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready for a Santa Catarina adventure in 'Cadê o Boi?' ('Where's the Ox?'), a vibrant board game for two players that takes you on a fun hunt across real beaches in Imbituba. The legend of the Boi de Mamão, a traditional folk figure from Santa Catarina, comes alive as you and your opponent become the 'searchers' in a race to find the lost ox. With quick games lasting up to 10 minutes, it's perfect for kids aged 6 and up, and anyone looking for a light, charming experience with local flair.

From the center of the board, Morro da Antena is your starting point. Each turn, you roll a die and move your pawn the exact number of spaces, choosing your direction but without backtracking on the same move. When you land on a beach, you draw a unique card from that location. Action cards, which can be played from your next turn (with the exception of the Trail Card, which comes into play immediately to create diagonal shortcuts), add a strategic layer. The Help Card boosts your movement, while the Travel Card takes you directly to a specific beach. For the more tactical players, Block and Unblock cards allow for a path-blocking duel, where one player can close a route and the other needs an Unblock card to proceed. There's also a simplified version, ideal for younger kids, which removes the blocking cards and uses fewer cards per beach, making the game even more straightforward. Victory is a blend of luck and exploration: the first to reveal the Boi de Mamão Card, hidden among the action cards on the beaches, wins instantly! And the celebration might even include a challenge to sing a Boi de Mamão song. An exciting race where luck and the right moves lead you to the right beach at the right moment.
