About the game
In Calimala, you step into the shoes of an influential cloth merchant in medieval Florence, a time when the city thrived on trade and art. Your mission is to expand your business, produce and deliver high-quality fabrics, and leave your mark on the construction and decoration of the city's monuments. To achieve this, you'll rely on a team of loyal employees, whom you'll dispatch to the city's streets to perform crucial actions. Each street connects two action spots, and activating one can trigger a chain of events. By placing your employees, you not only carry out tasks but also contribute to the prestige of your guild, the Arte di Calimala, which represented Florence's elite. As employees fulfill their duties, they eventually get promoted to the city council, triggering important scoring phases. The game unfolds through strategic placement of action discs, where activating a street can benefit everyone with employees present. The dynamic shifts each game, as the board is modular and the order of scoring phases varies, adding an extra layer of replayability. With secret objectives and action cards, Calimala offers a rich and challenging experience for those who enjoy strategy with a historical twist.
