Carcassonne: Amazonas transports the classic tile‑laying mechanics to the banks of the mighty Amazon River. Each player pilots a boat that moves forward as you place water tiles, indigenous villages, and jungle areas. Discovering animals in the forest tiles scores points; visiting villages also yields points, and the first player to reach the river's end earns a bonus reward. Boat movement is driven by boat symbols on water routes and, interestingly, when you choose not to place meeples on rivers or villages your vessel can still advance, creating strategic decisions about when to invest your followers. Caimans and piranhas appear unpredictably, but those furthest downstream usually collect extra points from these encounters. The game ends when all tiles are exhausted; then the two boats farthest down the river receive additional end‑game points, varying with player count. Suitable for 2‑5 players, a typical playtime is about 35 minutes and the weight is light (BGG ~1.9), making it perfect for quick, exploration‑heavy sessions. Components include beautifully illustrated tiles depicting Amazon wildlife, boat miniatures, and colored meeples. If you enjoyed Carcassonne: South Seas or Gold Rush, you’ll feel at home, yet the Brazilian setting adds a fresh layer of discovery and natural humor. In short, it’s easy to learn, visually appealing, and rewards both exploration and follower management.
