About the game
What you do in a play session
Imagine that spring has arrived, the ice has melted, and life is buzzing beneath the grass. You are the leader of an ant nest, and your mission is simple yet brutal: dominate the meadow. In March of the Ants: Evolved Edition, you aren't just moving pieces; you are managing the evolution of your colony. While your workers frantically dig tunnels in search of food, your soldiers face off against centipedes and rival colonies in intense territorial disputes. The key highlight here is evolution: new generations of ants can take on various forms, allowing you to adapt your species to secure victory.
This 'Evolved' edition is a complete upgrade of the original 2015 game. Forget the old look; we now have renewed artwork, modern graphic design, and, most importantly, refined mechanics to make the gameplay flow smoother. New Resting cards and epic Tunnel Battles have been added, ramping up the strategic tension. The game achieves something rare: delivering the depth of a '4X' experience (eXplore, eXpand, eXterminate, and eXploit) in a session that lasts under 90 minutes.
You'll need to decide where to expand your tunnels, how to evolve your castes, and who to fight to secure control of the Great Tunnel. With a modular hexagonal board, every game creates a different scenario, requiring you to constantly shift your strategy. It's an open-ended strategy game where there isn't a single path to victory. Will you focus on territorial expansion, biological evolution, or direct combat? The choice is yours, but remember: in the insect world, those who don't evolve become prey.
