About the game
What you do in a play session
In Prehistory each player leads a Late Stone Age tribe forced to wander in search of richer soil. The game starts with scarce supplies and a central campsite where markers have a double life: when paid, they act as food or raw material; when reclaimed, they become action cubes that let you hunt, fish, paint cave walls, or perform rituals to sway nature. The board is modular, built from tiles that are uncovered as tribes explore, creating fresh territories to settle and contest for influence. Each round splits into two phases – first, players hand over resources at the campsite to earn the right to perform specific actions; then they retrieve their markers as action cubes and execute those actions. Worker placement, set collection and tile‑placement mechanics intertwine, while area majority decides who controls key regions and scores extra points. The win condition is to finish with the most victory points, earned from dominated areas, stored resources, cave art, and successful ceremonies. The game blends long‑term strategy with tactical choices each turn, delivering a feel of our ancestors’ struggle for food and land while keeping rules approachable and playtime between 60 and 120 minutes for 2‑4 players.
