About the game
What you do in a play session
Carnuta invites you to an annual druidic ceremony where spell‑weavers from far‑flung lands gather to brew the ultimate potion. The game starts with eight secret ingredients that must be combined into runes, and each player has a personal tableau of cards to assemble their mixture. On each turn you take two actions – they can be the same or different – chosen from four possible options such as drawing cards, forming runes, or discarding. The Delayed Purchase mechanic lets you reserve ingredients for later use, while Set Collection drives you to chase specific combos that score points. Every card placed in front of you represents an ingredient or rune, and its point value depends on how well it synergizes with the rest of your potion. The goal is to end with the highest score, and the game ends when a player puts their eleventh card on the table. Though the rules are straightforward, you must balance acquiring new ingredients with building high‑value sets, all while preventing opponents from blocking your combos. A quick 25‑minute playtime and a light weight (1.6/5) make it accessible to both newcomers and seasoned card‑game fans. The artwork conjures a fantasy druidic world, reinforcing the ceremonial vibe. With compact components and streamlined rules, Carnuta fits perfectly into casual get‑togethers, weekend sessions, or anyone looking for a thematic card game that won’t eat up setup time.
