Castell captures the vibrant spirit of Catalan festivals and brings it to your tabletop. Each player leads a colla – a team of castellers – traveling across Catalonia over ten rounds, recruiting locals, training skills, and building human towers to wow the crowds. Recruitment works as set collection: a more diverse roster gives you more options to construct tall, wide, or creative towers.
Area movement comes into play as you move your castellers between towns, deciding where to add new members or where to stage your performance. Each festival has its own preferences, and pattern building requires you to combine strength, balance, courage, and common sense when assembling the structure. The better your tower matches the audience’s taste, the more victory points you earn.
The rules are quick to learn – about 15 minutes – yet the long‑term strategy – choosing which skills to train, which regions to visit, and how to balance your team’s diversity – keeps the game engaging until the final score. With a BGG weight of 3.1, it’s approachable but still offers meaningful choices. Perfect for fans of cultural themes, resource‑management games, and a dash of sports‑style competition, all wrapped in colorful components that echo real castells.
