Imagine the scorching heat of Rome, the dust rising, and the tension in the air as horses snort, eager to start. In Chariot Race, you step into the shoes of a charioteer seeking glory in the imperial arenas. The goal is straightforward: complete two laps of the circuit and cross the finish line before everyone else. But don't think it's just about rolling dice and moving; here, haste can be your worst enemy.
The dynamics revolve around speed and risk management. Depending on your previous speed and the current condition of your chariot, you'll roll between one and five dice. Each face features icons that allow you to increase or decrease speed, change lanes, or get aggressive. If you want to knock a rival out of the way, you can hurl javelins or drop caltrops to cause accidents. If the dice aren't in your favor, you can call upon the Favor of Fortuna to manipulate the results, provided you've accumulated enough favors.
The real challenge lies in the corners. Racing at top speed is great on the straights, but entering a turn too fast can send your chariot crashing into the wall or another competitor. Accumulated damage can destroy your vehicle mid-race, resulting in elimination. So, the question is: do you play it safe to ensure you finish, or do you risk everything with dangerous maneuvers to take the lead? Between the strategy of chariot maintenance and the urge to sabotage opponents, victory requires a balance of audacity and prudence.

Is the game complex?
Not at all, it's a gateway game. The rules are simple and the die icon mechanic is intuitive, making it great for casual gamers.
How long does a game last?
Quite fast! Games typically last between 15 and 45 minutes, depending on the player count and how many crashes occur.
Can I play with a large group?
Yes, it supports 2 to 6 players, which makes the race quite chaotic and fun.
Is there a chance of being eliminated early?
Yes. If you are reckless in the corners or take too many hits, your chariot can be destroyed, knocking you out of the race.
Is it purely luck-based?
The dice bring the luck, but the strategy lies in how you spend your icons and when you use Fortuna's Favors to mitigate bad rolls.
