About the game
What you do in a play session
Chicken Cha Cha Cha is a memory game with a dancing twist, perfect for kids and families who enjoy quick, lively rounds. Each player controls a wooden chicken that starts with a single tail feather. The board consists of twelve face‑down octagonal tiles and twenty‑four egg tiles placed face‑up in a circle, creating the path the chickens follow. Every octagon shows a chicken‑related picture; the same picture appears on two eggs. On a turn, the player looks at the image on the egg directly ahead, flips one octagon, and if the images match, moves his chicken onto that egg, flips the octagon back face‑down, and repeats with the next egg. A mismatch ends the turn. If another chicken blocks the way, the player tries to match the image on that opponent’s egg; a successful match lets the chicken leapfrog the rival, land on the egg, and steal all tail feathers the opponent holds. The goal is to collect every tail feather first. Because the octagons are shuffled each game, players must build memory from both their own flips and what they observe from others. Playtime is about 15‑20 minutes, for 2‑4 players, with a light weight of 1.1/5, making it an excellent intro to memory‑based movement mechanics for children. The game earned awards such as the Spiel des Jahres (Children’s Game) and remains celebrated for turning a classic memory task into a "cha‑cha" chicken race.
